UNDISCOVERED TRIBES
Welcome to the portfolio of Riqu Art, a place where you can discover the mysterious tribes with the exclusive, differently patterned its members - cats. In my current artworks you can see elements of feathers, bones, textiles and geometric shapes, which make my graphic style exceptional. I love to experiment with new drawing techniques and often I discover something unique. I wanted to create characters, that were not only are beautiful, but could also inspire everyone, like heroes.
What is "Miiauji"?
The creation of first tribe "Miiauji" was inspired by a dream, that sent me into the parallel world where these majestic cats reigned. No, not ordinary domestic cats, but large wild predators, both intriguing and charming. These unique beasts, covered with beautiful feathers and their hunting trophies, accepted me as a friend at their tribe - so I could learn a lot about them and perfectly portray them in my own artworks.
I had a chance to watch this unique cats community very close – having learned about their everyday life, hunting characteristics and communication peculiarities, I have concluded that in their interior and behavior they are very similar to our cats – witty, highly curious and always looking for some adventure. This is why I called the tribe “Miiauji“ and gave it a scientific name TUNICA PLUMIS COOPERTUS FELES TRIBUS (From Latin "feather-covered tribe of cats").
What is "Murr-guji"?
In my second series of drawings I present the next undiscovered tribe, called "Murr-guji". Cats in this tribe will be adorned with tusks, bones and horns, which makes it also exceptional. What inspired me to create this tribe - people have always enjoyed dressing up with accessories, so I wondered what it would be like if cats liked to dress up and how they would dress up. I hope this unique mashup of cats and accessories will make your heart fall in love with these characters.
What is "Muri-cati"?
Continuing with my original idea of undiscovered cat tribes, I present my latest series, in which you will once again see the characters of a new parallel world cat tribe, the "Muri-cati", dressed in outfits with ornaments, that perfectly match the fur of the furry characters. This cat tribe is also special for its bright lines and contouring technique, and the characters' eye-catching looks.
*I would like to point, that in the photos (in the background of the drawings) you will see borrowed fur coats, which I used to better reflect the liveliness of the characters in the drawings, also that you could imagine the composition on a real big and shaggy cat character - the hero of the exhibition. However, I make accent, that I’m against the use of natural fur for fashion purposes and the breeding/killing of animals only for the production of fur. This appeal by me is a way to draw attention to the still relevant issues of the aimless killing of innocent animals for the sake of fashion.
